WESTFIELD – Westfield area businesses have won several awards in the Lake Erie Living Magazine “Best of Lake Erie” contest covering communities across Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York.

Businesses in the Westfield area host 13 awards from 27 categories and 84 total winners.

“This is a real testament to the vibrant community that Westfield has become. Think how much community pride it takes to organize and get people to vote and write testimonies. It’s not just about hitting the like button. You had to explain why a business is the best,” said Don McCord, executive director of the Westfield Development Corporation. “We are proud of our community and how the area really supports our small businesses. We are thriving here in Westfield.”

Westfield has weathered the challenges of the past two years with resilience, operating a farmers and artisan market in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and promoting shopping and restaurant take-out during that time. Westfield lost only two high street businesses during 2020-21 and both served the wedding industry.

“Our community really showed up. People came and supported our downtown restaurants and shops and kept them alive,” said Westfield Mayor Mike Velde. “Now our city center is flourishing, and more businesses are looking here. We are excited about the future and the possibilities. Westfield has a great downtown with fun retail shops and great restaurants. If we continue to work hard, and we will, Westfield will continue to be a regional destination.”

The business winners are Brazill’s on Main (Fine Dining), Rosie’s Workshop (Home Decor & Gifts), Grace and Abe’s (Happy Hour), Johnson Estate Winery (Winery), Annex 25 (Summer Cocktail), Parkview Cafe (Sunday Brunch), Westfield Nursery (Garden Centre), Barcelona Lakeside B&B (Bed & Breakfast), CJ’s Pizza (Pizza). Westfield winning attractions are Barcelona Harbor Beach (beach), Lincoln-Bedell Statue (historical site), Barcelona Lighthouse (lighthouse).

Westfield itself was mentioned “Best Town” through the magazine.

“It is a great honor for the community to be recognized in this way. The vitality and pride our residents have is incredible and it shows,” said Martha Bills, Westfield Township Supervisor.

“It’s quite the achievement. This puts Westfield on the map in more than four Lake Erie states and is a testament to the strength of our downtown and surrounding area. We are happy to be one of the 13 winners,” said Blair Koss, founder of Rosie’s Workshop. “We have experienced a huge increase in regional visitors to our store on Main Street. It’s great to see Westfield recognized in this way.”

Rosie’s Workshop is a home decor brand manufactured right here in Chautauqua with retail stores in Pittsburgh and Westfield. They sell internationally to the hospitality industry.
