Vicky’s Homes is on a roll.
For the second straight year, the Edmonton-based custom home builder — known in part for its “built by man, designed by a woman” catchphrase — has won a top honor at the 2022 Building Industry and Land Development Alberta Awards.
Vicky’s was named the Small Volume Builder Pinnacle Award winner at a gala held Friday night as part of the industry’s BILDing the Future conference at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in Jasper.
In addition to following up on that same BILD win in 2021, Vicky’s also received a similar honor last year at the local level, being named Builder of the Year Small Volume at the 2021 Awards of Excellence by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association Edmonton Region.
Vicky’s was one of 11 Edmonton builders or renovators who were winners at the BILD Alberta awards this year.
But it just wasn’t Edmonton that celebrated as the announcements were made. Calgary builders and renovators also won, including taking the remaining three top awards.
Morrison Homes (Calgary) received the Pinnacle Award for Large Volume Builder, Ultimate Renovations (Calgary) came home with the Renovator Pinnacle Award, and the University of Calgary Properties Group won the Developer Pinnacle Award.
The prestigious Pinnacle Awards are given out based on a demonstration of leadership in design, safety, volunteerism and customer satisfaction.
“The BILD Alberta Awards showcase our members’ creativity and innovation in new home construction, renovation and community development,” said Scott Fash, executive director, BILD Alberta. “We were excited to see the results of this year’s competition and honor the finalists and winners. As one of Alberta’s largest economic contributors, the awards are an opportunity to highlight our industry and the work of our members. Thank you to our judges who dedicated their time to select the winners and the sponsors who make the awards possible.”
This year, more than 300 entries were submitted from across Alberta to compete for the best in new home design, professional renovation and community development. Those were then further narrowed down to 105 finalists in 35 categories.
Both Vicky’s and Edmonton’s Aquarian Renovations scored two awards on the night. Vicky’s also won for Single Family $1 million to $1.5 million. Aquarian won the Renovator’s Choice and the Exterior Renovations awards. Also in the renovation section, Effect Home Builders won for Home Renovation $400,000 – $750,000.
Meanwhile, Edmonton swept the infill portion of the awards with North Pointe Homes taking the Infill $600,000 – $1.2 million, and Alair Homes won for Infill Over $1.2 million
The New Community award went to Averton for its Midtown development in St. Albert. Midtown is Canada’s first Built Green community.
In the multi-family segment, local winners were StreetSide Developments and Carrington Communities. StreetSide took the Multi-family Townhome or Duplex $300,000 – $500,000, while Carrington won the Multi-family Apartment Unit Under $500,000.
The remaining Edmonton winners were all in the single-family home category with Homes by Avi ($350,000 – $375,000), White Eagle Homes ($525,000 – $600,000), and Platinum Signature Homes ($600,000 – $800,000) walking up to the podium.
