What to Do in Georgetown, Texas

Georgetown Square has the ultimate holiday shopping experience. Whether you are on an antiquing mission to uncover a long-forgotten piece of art at Rough and Ready Antiques, or you’re in search of the perfect gift, you’ll find just what you’ve been looking for in one of the many stores, both on and off the square. Don’t forget to grab a glass of wine to-go (yes, you can drink while you stroll on the square!) while you window-shop for one-of-a-kind gifts. Grape Creek Vineyards’ tasting room even has a walk-up window where you can order a cup of vino without having to walk inside the shop. Bibliophiles and light readers alike should stop by Lark & ​​Owl Booksellers, an independent women-owned bookstore, bistro, and retail experience, to grab a bite and stroll through their expansive book collection.

With more than nine miles of hiking and biking trails, Garey Park and San Gabriel Park are great spots to take a walk and enjoy colorful landscapes with unbeatable views. For something truly unique, head to the Inner Space Cavern and explore more than 80,000 years of underground rock formations (possibly a few bats as well).




In Georgetown, history buffs can visit more than 52 properties on the National Register of Historic Places. Marvel at the preserved Victorian and Pre-WWI buildings found in the downtown historic district; visit the Grace Heritage Center that dates back to 1881; or check out the Old Williamson County Jail, built in 1888. Georgetown is also home to Southwestern University, the oldest university in Texas. It also hosts a full bar with signature cocktails and an extensive whiskey collection.
